Salt Lake City

I thought you might like to see what my hometown looks like. This is a drawing made a few years ago, so it is not entirely accurate--in fact, our little town in Deseret has grown so much that we now refer to it as Salt Lake City.

There are many more houses and buildings in town now than when this drawing was made, and the streets are cobbled with inlaid stones. We live in a cabin that Father built in the hills that slope up from the valley toward the green mountains to the east.

I have heard that there is a new process for recording images using a special box that captures light. The result is called a photograph, but I have never seen one and can't even imagine how something like that is possible. Some day, maybe, somebody might take a photograph of Salt Lake so you can see what it really looks like, but for now, we only have drawings!
